Strawberry and Cream Overload.

Look a short trip to Mahabaleshwar recently to unwind and relax post exams. My visit coincided with the strawberry season and since Mahabaleshwar is famous for its strawberries, I did full justice to the juicy berries. Mahabaleshwar is known for its Strawberry and Cream and you can find almost every shop selling it. With one Strawberry and Cream a day, I was one happy girl.

Dinner at Five Fat Monks, Bandra.

Food at Five Fat Monks is surprisingly good. Their Do-It-Yourself noodles are a great idea to customize your own bowl of noodles or nice. The dimsums especially the Chicken Sui-Mai is one of the best dimsums I have ever eaten. Its succulent and generously filled with the chicken. They gave a great variety of rice and noodle options. Their menu is well priced and and easy on the pockets. They also serve complimentary green tea with your meal on demand. They also prepare their food with fresh ingredients and don't use MSG in their cooking. One of my current favourite places to visit to have a sit down meal with family or friends or for some take-out.

Everybody Loves Pizza

Called a few of my friends over for some homemade pizza. I prepared everything from scratch, from the dough to the sauce. Pizza dough is easier to make than your normal bread dough. The sauce was a simple tomato sauce with onions, herbs and some cheese. One was a simple Margherita pizza with tomato sauce, cheese, topped with basil. Another one was with a pesto base topped with mushrooms and cherry vine tomatoes and some cheese.
I baked then in the oven for 10-15 mins and they were ready to serve!

Bread Talk

Decided to get back to baking bread. This time I decided to go old school and bake a nice loaf. I used a recipe which I found on the internet. Turned out pretty great. I just love the aroma of freshly baked bread. It perfumes the house while it bakes in the oven. So good.

Ready for the oven!
READY!

I used some of the leftover bread to make some French Toast for breakfast the next day! Eggy and cinnamony, it was the perfect mid-week breakfast, warm and goey, drizzled with some honey.

Cinnamon Rolls.

I love cinnamon and with my new found love for bread making I decided to try baking some cinnamon rolls.
I followed a random recpie off the internet. It worked perfectly to my favor. The buns came out of the over looking perfect, all buttery and cinnamon-y.

Lunch at Imbiss, Bandra

I've wanted to visit this quaint German eatery for a while now and I got the chance today.
The place is very small and compact but the food lived up to its hype. The menu is impressive and includes a variety of sausages, schnitzels, roasts and pork and beef dishes.
We tried the Lamb and Mint sausage, the Beef burger and Pork rind. But the star of the lunch and my personal favorite was the Milanesa Nepolitana. It was basically ham stuffed with cheese, crumbed and deep fried till crisp. It came with a side of slaw and creamy mashed potatoes, probably the best one I have had till date. The crumbed ham was crisp and golden and was oozing with melty cheese. It was the perfect dish.

Korean cooking.

My Father from his recent trip to Korea got me two tubs of Korean pastes. One was the traditional Gochujang with is a red chilli paste and the other was Ssamjang which is a black bean paste.

The pastes by themself are very strong. So I marinated some Sea Bass fillets in the two pastes and cooked them in the oven with some thinly sliced ginger and garlic slices. The sugars the the pastes caramelized beautifully in the oven and candied the ginger and the garlic and the fish was cooked to perfect. It was a simple dish but with a complex mix of flavours. I would definitely make it can. It would work great with chicken or prawns too.
